Solo session at King's College, Cambridge

July 10, 2015

June 8, 2015 - King's College Chapel, Cambridge

Aksel was generously invited by the Assistant Director of Music at King's College, Ben Parry, to come to Cambridge and experience the remarkable acoustics and aura of King's Chapel. This is the splendid Gothic building that many know from the BBC Christmas Eve service sung by the Choir of King's College every year. Without previous rehearsal, Aksel sang a solo program of roughly half an hour with the last of the day's tourists as an audience, expertly accompanied by resident organ scholar Douglas Tang.

Heartfelt thanks to Ben Parry (who is also director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain) and Douglas Tang for making it possible for Aksel to experience singing in such a special place!

The video clip above features excerpts from the following arias:

Happy, Iphis, shalt thou live (G.F.Händel)

How beautiful are the feet (G.F.Händel)

Let the Bright Seraphim (G.F.Händel)

Mein gläubiges Herze (J.S.Bach)

Alleluia (W.A.Mozart)

Aksel and Mr. Tang also performed a new arrangement of the Norwegian religious folk song, "Eg veit i himmerik ein borg", arranged specifically for Aksel by Oslo Cathedral organist Kåre Nordstoga. Aksel and Nordstoga will perform this arrangement on their joint concert Oct 31th in Oslo Cathedral.
